Construction wireless, $70,000 lower in year one

The company had more than 400 wireless lines and its carrier rep's word that the pricing was locked. Its bill rose 11% in under a year anyway.

A construction company running more than 400 wireless lines cut its wireless costs by $70,000 in the first year after we audited and restructured the account. Its carrier rep had said the pricing was protected by a price lock, yet the total monthly bill had risen 11% in less than a year with no increase in usage.

The result

The company's wireless costs came in $70,000 lower over the first year after the changes.

Our audit found what was behind the increases: a newly added carrier surcharge, higher line charges under renamed service bundles, and redundant features added across multiple users' lines. All the while, the carrier's position was that nothing on the account had changed.

A price lock can cover the core plan price on each line while fees, surcharges and add-ons sit outside it, so a locked account still needs its bills checked. Our article on business price locks goes through what one carrier's lock covers and what it leaves out.

Every account is different, and what we find depends on what's on your bills.

What we did

We audited the account and restructured it, and the company approved each change in writing before it went in.
